Early Start is a free, one year pre-school programme for 3-4 year olds. Your child must be 3 by 1st September to qualify for Early Start. There is only one intake per year. Children that turn 3 after the 1st of September must wait until the following year to apply. Early Start is run by a qualified Primary Teacher and a qualified Child Care Worker. Children are prepared for Junior Infants in a fun and friendly environment. They learn all the basics in numeracy and literacy while making friends and enjoying life. All activities parties, lunches , hip-hop dance classes and book lending library are free.
There are two groups in Early Start
We build our Curriculum around the Aistear Framework which comprises of four themes- Well Being, Identity and Belonging, Communicating, Exploring and Thinking.
If you would like to apply to Early start, please download the form below and complete and return to the school with a copy of your child's birth certificate. Enrolment forms are also available from the school. Although we aim to offer a place in the morning or afternoon group as requested, this may not always be possible as the maximum number of children in each group is 15.
Application and Decision Dates for admission to 2024/2025
The following are the dates applicable for admission for Early Start:
The school will commence accepting applications for admission on 02/10/2023
The school shall cease accepting applications for admission on 22/12/2023
The date by which applicants will be notified of the decision on their application is 24/01/2024
The period within which applicants must confirm acceptance of an offer of admission is 09/02/2024
Note: the school will consider and issue decisions on late applications in accordance with the school’s admission policy.
Failure to accept an offer within the prescribed period above may result in the offer being withdrawn.
Number of places being made available in 2024/2025
There are 15 afternoon slots, from 12-2.30p.m.
There are two groups in Early Start
- Morning 8.50am-11.20 am
- Afternoon 12pm-2.30pm
